2010-11 Managed and Outsourced Services Benchmark
Nemertes Research, Oct 2010, Pages: 19
Outsourcing adoption is on the rise with managed services continuing steady growth, from 27% of organizations in 2006 to 73% of organizations in 2010.
Cost savings is the driving factor for managed-services adoption, and network/router and IPT management top the types of services to outsource this year. But cost is not the only reason to adopt managed services; a lack of skill set is a significant driver.
Additionally, size of company, strategic value of IT and IT culture affect the types of managed services and adoption rates. But unlike managed services, most organizations have no plans for hosted services, with the exception of Web conferencing and messaging. The bottom line for IT professionals is hosted and managed services must be seen as part of an overall IT outsourcing strategy.
