NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) July 12, 1999--Standard & Poor's today revised the outlook on the local currency rating of HSBC Bank Brasil S.A. (formerly Banco HSBC Bamerindus S.A.) to positive from negative. The long- and short-term local and foreign currency counterparty credit ratings are affirmed at single-'B'-plus and single-'B', respectively. In addition, the long- and short-term certificate of deposit ratings are affirmed at single-'B'-plus and single-'B', respectively. The outlook on the bank's foreign currency ratings remains negative, reflecting that of the sovereign. No actions were taken in relation to other rated banks in Brazil, either because they do not have public local currency ratings or because they have public information ('pi') ratings, which do not have outlooks.
