Matahari Putra Prima Tbk. reflects the Indonesian retailer's exposure to very competitive trading conditions, a dependence on discretionary incomes of consumers, and susceptibility of its liquidity position to the weak credit quality of the domestic banking system and to counterparty risks. These risks are offset by the company's dominant market position, earnings diversity through a large base of retail stores, reducing exposure to foreign exchange risks, and moderate debt leverage.
