Abstract In the absence of a developed debt market (in terms of depth and liquidity), financial institutions continue to play an important role in the provision of funding to large-and-midsize companies in India. While banks and financial institutions continue to diversify into each other's traditional core line of business, it will take some time before each significantly impacts the others' dominant market position.
