Abstract
The year 2009 witnessed some significant industry repositioning with consolidation in both the wireline and wireless sectors and major restructuring among key cable TV players. While negative rating actions outpaced positive ones, overall credit quality remained relatively stable, a testament to demand for telecommunication and entertainment services even during difficult economic times. Rating changes since the prior report card published June 29, 2009 (and, indeed, for the full year) have been limited in scope. In terms of overall creditworthiness, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services saw a broad continuation of the trends we have seen in recent years for telecommunications and cable.
