Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AA' long-term rating to the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska's general obligation (GO) bonds, series 2011A, 2011B, 2011C, and 2011D. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'AA' long-term rating and underlying rating (SPUR) on Anchorage's GO bonds outstanding. The outlook is stable. The ratings reflect our opinion of: The municipality's central role in the state and regional economy, The municipality's strong income levels, The stability of the municipality's property tax base, and The municipality's good fund balances. Unlimited ad valorem taxes levied on taxable property within the municipality secure the GO bonds. The municipality serves what we consider a large and diverse area.
