Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA' rating on Charlotte-Mecklenburg Hospital Authority, North Carolina (d.b.a.) Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) $806.7 million existing revenue bonds. The affirmation of the long-term and underlying rating (SPUR) reflects CHS' leading business position as the largest of two health care systems serving the Charlotte region, highlighted by a broad tertiary service mix, including strength in key specialties (cardiology, orthopedics and neurosciences) and a strong and stable market share in both Mecklenburg County and the broader thirteen-county service area. The 'A-1+' short-term rating on the series 2005B-D bonds reflects the SBPA provided by Bank of America N.A ('AA'/A-1+).
