Abstract
High growth, largely due to a surge in demand, has attracted investors to the datacenter sector recently despite memories of failures and bankruptcies during the dot-com era of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Reflecting the investment interest and the companies' need for capital from the credit markets, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has initiated ratings on eight U.S. datacenter and managed services companies since 2009. The business risk profiles of these companies benefit from increased outsourcing of IT services, as well as strong growth in Internet use and digital services, which directly drive demand for datacenter space and managed services....
