S&P Report Says Swedish Public Finance System For Local And Regional Governments Ranks In Highest Category May 11

Abstract
STOCKHOLM (Standard & Poor's) May 19, 2011--In a report published today, titled Public Finance System Overview: Swedish Local And Regional Governments, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said that it considers the institutional framework for local and regional governments (LRGs) that operate in the Kingdom of Sweden (AAA/Stable/A-1+) to be among the most supportive worldwide. As a consequence, Standard & Poor's assigns the Swedish system its highest score of '1' in its overall analysis (on a scale of 1 to 6). "Swedish LRGs operate within a mature institutional system where the process for implementing reforms and amendments is transparent and consensual, and thus the outcome is usually predictable," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Gabriel Forss.
