OPEC Food Security: The Food Price of Oil
CGSA - Center For Global Strategic Analysis, Aug 2010, Pages: 10
It has often been said by observers in the oil importing G7 countries that the Saharan OPEC Countries will always be forced to sell them large quantities of oil. The reasoning behind this idea is that while the G7 oil importers have energy security of supply issues many of them are major food exporters and OPEC has food security of supply challenges.
The aim of this report is to provide a greater insight than has previously been available on this subject and clarify exactly how much oil the Saharan OPEC Countries would have to export to pay for essential food imports.
