Abstract
We consider BBVA Paraguay a strategically important entity for Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria. We are assigning our 'B+/B' counterparty credit rating to BBVA Paraguay. We expect the bank to continue increasing its intermediation level while maintaining healthy financials. BUENOS AIRES (Standard & Poor's) Sept. 17, 2010--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it assigned its 'B+/B' counterparty credit rating to Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Paraguay (BBVA Paraguay). The outlook is positive. 'Our rating on BBVA Paraguay is constrained by Paraguay's high industry and country risk. In addition, its portfolio concentration in the agriculture sector--though similar to that of the Paraguayan GDP concentration--and a highly competitive environment also limit the rating.
