Abstract
During the first six months of 2010, European transportation companies reported increasingly improving operating conditions and profitability. These factors have been supported by the global economic recovery, which continued to be buoyed by fiscal stimulus packages and assisted by the upswing in emerging economies such as Latin America and Asia. The successful implementation of cost-saving programs, strong demand from China for raw materials, and lower hedged fuel prices have also helped to facilitate the improvement. We currently forecast a continued, modest growth in the eurozone economies--with GDP growth of 1.7% in 2010, and 1.9% in 2011.
