Abstract
The 'AAA' long-term rating assigned to Durham County, N.C.'s series 2010 general obligation (GO) bonds, series 2010A tax-exempt bonds, series 2010B taxable Build America bonds (BABs), and series 2010C tax-exempt refunding bonds and on the county's previously rated GO debt reflects Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' opinion of the county's: Strong and diverse economic base, enhanced by Research Triangle Park; Substantial property tax base that, albeit at a more modest rate than in recent history, continues to expand and diversify; Maintenance of a strong reserve position through the current economic downtown; and Manageable overall debt position with an above-average amortization schedule.
