Abstract
Sales of previously owned homes in the U.S rose 7.6% in August, according to the report released Thursday. Although activity in the housing market remains at extremely low historical levels, the existing home sales figure did increase and even came in slightly above market expectations. After July's record one-month drop, the latest data, when combined with other recently released economic reports, supports global equity markets through the suggestion that economic growth is improving. Further economic figures in Europe and worldwide are needed, in our opinion, to clarify views of the future. Nonetheless, the recent upbeat releases, mainly in the U.S. and in Asia, may soften investors' fears of a possible double-dip recession. Closer to home, the German IFO business sentiment...
