Abstract
DALLAS (Standard & Poor's) July 30, 2009--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised its long term and underlying ratings (SPURs) on Iowa State University of Science and Technology's (Iowa State, ISU) outstanding academic building revenue bonds and other university debt with unlimited student fee-based ratings to 'AA' from 'AA-'. In accordance with our enhanced criteria for rating government-related entities (GREs), the upgrade reflects Standard & Poor's opinion that there is a "moderately high" likelihood that the state of Iowa (AAA/Stable) would provide extraordinary support to the university in case of financial distress.
