Atmos Energy Corp.'s Proposed $400M Senior Unsecured Notes Are Rated 'BBB+' Jun 11

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) June 7, 2011--Standard & Poor's Rating Services said today it assigned its 'BBB+' issue-level rating to Atmos Energy Corp.'s proposed $400 million senior unsecured notes offering due in 2041. The corporation intends to use the proceeds from this to repay all outstanding commercial paper borrowings, to fund capital expenditures, and for general corporate purposes. As of March 31, 2011, Atmos had about $2.16 billion of total long-term debt. Texas-based Atmos is engaged primarily in the regulated natural gas distribution and transmission and storage businesses, as well as other nonregulated natural gas businesses.
