In the first half of 2003, the credit quality of Taiwan corporates improved compared with 2002. During the first six months of 2003, Taiwan Ratings raised its corporate credit ratings on 18.5% of corporates, lowered its ratings on 7.4%, and left 74.1% unchanged (see table 1). These numbers compared favorably with those of 2002, when Taiwan Ratings lowered its ratings on 15.4% of corporations, raised the ratings on 7.7% and left 76.9% unchanged.
