BULLETIN: Chile Revises Mobile Access Telecommunications Charges Jan 04

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Jan. 23, 2004--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said that the decline in mobile access charges resulted from the quinquennial revision of telecommunication tariffs in Chile will not have an immediate impact on rated companies Compania de Telecomunicaciones de Chile S.A. (CTC; BBB/Positive/--) and Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones S.A. (ENTEL) (BBB/Positive/--). The final decree would be enacted in February 2004. On Jan. 22, 2004, the Chilean telecom regulatory authority, Subsecretar-a de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel), submitted its final proposal, establishing a 26.5% reduction of mobile access between 2004-2009, with most of the impact in 2004.
