Abstract
BUENOS AIRES (Standard & Poor's) June 9, 2006--Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones S.A. (ENTEL; BBB+/Negative/--) recently announced the sale of its stake in Americatel Centroamerica S.A. (a company that provides long distance, data, and Internet services in Central America), for about $16.5 million. This transaction will not affect Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' rating on the company given the fact these operations and assets are noncore for ENTEL. In this sense, Americatel Centroamerica only represented about 3% of ENTEL's consolidated sales and only 1% of EBITDA generation in fiscal 2005....
