Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has affirmed its 'AA+' long-term rating on Charleston County Park and Recreation District, S.C.'s general obligation (GO) bonds, reflecting the following credit factors: The growing and diversified economic base, highlighted by significant port, medical, tourist, and military elements; Sizable and diverse tax base; Historically strong financial management, operations, and performance; and Low debt burden with rapid amortization. These credit strengths are mitigated by a very high debt service carrying charge. The district's full faith and credit GO pledge secures the bonds. Charleston County Park and Recreation District is a special purpose district empowered to acquire land for the development and operation of county parks, recreation facilities, tourist attractions, and other facilities.
