S&P Report: Australian Regional Financial Institutions Pursue Different Growth Strategies Aug 07

Abstract
MELBOURNE (Standard & Poor's) Aug. 10, 2007--Australian regional financial institutions (RFIs) have experienced consistent growth in earnings to-date, on the back of strong loan growth and relatively favorable credit conditions, according to Standard & Poor's Ratings Services in a report published today. The report titled "To Diverge Or Converge: Australian Regional Financial Institutions At A Crossroad", highlights that RFIs are pursuing different strategies to maintain strong growth: organically through new product developments and entering new markets, and inorganically through mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
