Bulletin: Illinois Regulators Approve Ameren Units' Rate Plan, But Legislative Uncertainty Persists Dec 06

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Dec. 21, 2006--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that the Illinois Commerce Commission's (ICC) recent authorization of Ameren Corp.'s (BBB/Watch Neg/A-3) opt-in rate-mitigation plan for its three Illinois utilities favors the companies' credit quality but does not affect their ratings at this time. Ameren's three Illinois utilities are Illinois Power Co. (BBB-/Watch Neg/--) Central Illinois Public Service Co. (BBB-/Watch Neg/--), and Central Illinois Light Co. (BBB-/Watch Neg/--). Under the plan, certain customers would have the choice to pay full market costs in 2007 or phase in the increases over a period of years.
