Abstract
NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) Nov. 2, 1999--Standard & Poor's today affirmed its ratings on Allstate Corp. (Allstate) and on the company's property/casualty (P/C) and life insurance operating subsidiaries (see list below). )In addition, the ratings on American Heritage Life Insurance Co. and its parent, American Heritage Life Investment Corp., were upgraded and removed from CreditWatch, where they were initially placed July 12, 1999 (see list). All rating actions followed the closing of the acquisition of American Heritage Life Investment Corp. by Allstate Corp. Major rating factors: -- Allstate is the sole owner of Allstate Insurance Co. and its related P/C insurers (cumulatively, AIC), which together constitute the second-largest personal lines P/C insurer in the world.
