BellSouth Corp. Ratings Still Watch Negative, SBC Ratings Affirmed Apr 00

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's CreditWire) April 6, 2000--Standard & Poor's long-term ratings on BellSouth Corp. and related entities remain on CreditWatch with negative implications where they were placed on Dec. 13, 1999 (see list below). Standard & Poor's short-term ratings on BellSouth Capital Funding Corp. and BellSouth Telecommunications Inc. are affirmed (see list). These ratings are not on CreditWatch. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its ratings on SBC Communications Inc. (see list). The outlook on SBC is stable. These actions follow the companies' announced intent to form a domestic wireless joint venture.
