Abstract
NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Oct. 10, 2006--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that last night's vote by the Electric Utility Oversight Committee of the Illinois House of Representatives in favor of the enactment of legislation extending the current electric rate freeze for the next three years in Illinois detracts from the creditworthiness of Ameren Corp. (BBB/Watch Neg/A-3) and its subsidiaries and Exelon Corp. (BBB+/Watch Neg/A-2) and its subsidiaries. This represents another small step toward the enactment of legislation that would lead to immediate and severe credit deterioration for the companies' Illinois utilities. The ratings on the companies are not affected at this time. The bill now moves to the House floor. Although the fall veto session does not...
