A corrected version follows.) The recent earthquake in Taiwan caused substantial infrastructure damage and the effect on the island's economy, at least in the short term, will be significant. However, the consequences for GDP growth may be limited, and in the medium term, economic growth may well be stimulated by increases in infrastructure and construction spending.
