Abstract The 'AAA' rating on Arlington County, Va.'s GO public improvement and refunding bonds series 2007 reflects the county's: Deep and diverse economy, serving as one of the anchors of the greater Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia MSAs; Excellent financial management; and Moderate overall debt burden. The bonds are secured by the county's full faith and credit GO pledge. Bond proceeds will be used to finance various county ($33.2 million), school ($16.6 million), and utilities ($67.5 million) capital improvement projects. Arlington County (estimated population 202,800 and a day population of 286,000) is located directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., in northern Virginia and is easily accessible to commuters by the Metro rail system and interstate highways.
