BNP Paribas (China) Ltd. Assigned 'A+/A-1' Ratings; Outlook Stable Sep 08

Abstract HONG KONG (Standard & Poor's) Sept. 16, 2008-- Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that it had assigned its 'A+' long-term and 'A-1' short-term counterparty credit ratings to BNP Paribas (China) Ltd. (BNP (China)). The outlook is stable. 'The ratings reflect the bank's status as a core subsidiary of BNP Paribas [BNP; AA+/Stable/A-1+]. On a standalone basis, the ratings reflect BNP (China)'s good asset quality and solid capitalization. These strengths are underpinned by the benefits the bank receives from its parent in terms of senior personnel, risk management, and a strong franchise in corporate and investment banking,' said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Terry Sham.
