On July 26, 2005, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA-' long-term issuer credit and senior unsecured debt ratings on the Province of New Brunswick, based on strong financial results in the last fiscal year, a solid performance by the provincial economy, and gradually declining tax-supported and direct debt burdens. At the same time, the 'A-1(High)' short-term CP rating was affirmed. The outlook is stable. The ratings on the province of New Brunswick reflect the following credit strengths: The province's revised estimates indicate strong financial results for fiscal 2005 (year ended March 31) as larger-than-expected federal transfers make up for modest slippage from revenue and expenditure budget targets.
