Abstract The banking sector in the State of Qatar shows an adequate level of creditworthiness and stability. The banks have strong financial profiles and operate in a limited competitive environment, although they show a high level of exposure to the state. Thus, lending opportunities and system liquidity tend to fluctuate in line with the oil price. The banks' main challenges are to increase diversification and reduce their reliance on the state.
