The 'A+' rating on the Town of Stratford, Conn.'s series 2005 GO bonds and outstanding GO bonds reflects the town's: Location and participation in the deep and diverse Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk-Danbury MSA; Good financial performance and position; Above-average wealth and income levels; and Modest tax base growth over the past three fiscal years, coupled with improving tax collection rates. A moderate debt burden, largely as a result of pension obligation bonds issued in 1998, offsets, in part, these factors. Bond proceeds from this issuance will be used to fund various capital projects, including $6.75 million school-related projects and $2.76 million for a public safety complex.
