AES Corp.'s El Salvadoran Units' 'BB+' Corporate Credit Ratings Are Withdrawn Feb 06

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) Feb. 21, 2006--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today it withdrew its 'BB+' corporate credit ratings on The AES Corp.'s El Salvador-based electric distribution subsidiaries Compa-ia de Alumbrado El-ctrico de San Salvador S.A. de C.V., Empresa El-ctrica de Oriente S.A. de C.V., and Distribuidora El-ctrica de Usulut-n S.A. de C.V. following the payment of the outstanding $103 million initially purchased by Fortis Bank N.V./S.A. and insured by MBIA Insurance Corp. Management confirmed that the notes were refinanced with $300 million senior guaranteed notes....
