Fueled by such downstream industries as electric power, power grid, and new energy, China’s insulation materials industry has maintained the stable growth in recent years. In 2009, the output of insulation materials in China arrived at 400 kilotons, and the sales volume 390 kilotons, up respectively 9.3% and 7.1% against 2008. In 2010, the output and sales volume approximated 440 kilotons and 430 kilotons.

Insulation materials can be divided into electrical polyester film, electrical polypropylene film, electrical mica tape, thin-film flexible composite insulating material, electrical laminated (molded) product, insulating paint & resin, electrical plastic, electrical cast sheet, etc.

Electrical polyester film is mostly applied in the fields like refrigeration compressor, membrane switch, and solar cell. In 2010, the output hit 130 kilotons, up 30.0% YoY; hereinto, Jiangsu Yuxing Film Technology Co., Ltd. and Sichuan EM Technology Co., Ltd. enjoyed the leading outputs.

Pulled by such industries as solar cell, electronic communication, and motor & electric appliance, the market demand for special polyester films like low extract polyester film and flame-retardant polyester film has been released during the recent years. Promisingly the annual average growth rate of special polyester films in China will remain around 15% during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.

In 2010, the output of electrical laminated (molded) industry in China reached 55 kilotons, up 14.6% from 2009. The major manufacturers cover Shandong SiDa Industry & Trade Co., Ltd., Longkou Aoxing Insulating Material Co., Ltd., Beijing Friend Group, etc., of which, Shandong SiDa Industry & Trade Co., Ltd. boasts the leading output and sales volume in this industry.

The report underlines not only the competition pattern of market segments in Chinese insulating material industry but the 10 manufacturers including Sichuan EM Technology Co., Ltd., Guangdong Shengyi Sci. Tech Co., Ltd., Shandong Jinbao Electronics Co., Ltd., ChangYuan Group Ltd., and Shandong SiDa Industry & Trade Co., Ltd.

Sichuan EM Technology Co., Ltd. is capable of manufacturing the most complete varieties of insulating materials in China, including electrical polyester film, halogen-free flame-retardant sheet, electrical polypropylene film, and electrical mica tape. In 2010, its output of electrical polyester film rested on 26183.44 tons, up 40.0% from 2009. As a medium & high-end electrical cast sheet product, halogen-free flame-retardant sheets blossomed into a new profit point of the company in 2010 with the sales volume of 1499.63 tons throughout the year, up 160.19% against 2009.

Guangdong Shengyi Sci. Tech Co., Ltd. features the largest export value of insulation materials in China and it highlights copper-clad laminates. In 2008, its export value of copper-clad laminates occupied 73.64% of the industrial total, but it fell to 64.88% in 2009.
