Croatia Consumer Electronics Report Q3 2011
Business Monitor International, June 2011, Pages: 42
Business Monitor International's Croatia Consumer Electronics Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, electronics associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Croatia's consumer electronics industry.
Croatia’s domestic consumer electronics devices market, defined as the addressable market for computing devices, mobile handsets and AV products, is projected to be worth around US$1.0bn in 2011. Demand is forecast to increase at a CAGR of 6.0% to US$1.3bn by 2015, driven by growing popularity of digital lifestyle products such as flat-screen TV sets, notebooks and digital cameras, as well as rising incomes and lower prices. Vendors should benefit from mostly improved trading conditions in 2011 with a recovery in private consumption translating into more consumers spending on durables such as computers and flat-screen TV sets. Consumer electronics retail sales drivers include growing affordability of digital products, retail channel expansion, digital TV conversion and 3G mobile network rollouts. Computer hardware accounted for around 56% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2010. BMI forecasts Croatian domestic market computer hardware sales (including notebooks and accessories) of US$574mn in 2011, with single-digit growth compared with 2010. Computer hardware CAGR for the 2011- 2015 periods is forecast at about 6.8%, driven by sales of notebooks and netbooks. AV devices accounted for around 25% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2010. The Croatian domestic AV device market is estimated at US$258mn in 2011. After recovering from a sharp slowdown in 2009, a CAGR of around 3.7% is projected for 2011-2015, due largely to continue growth in the digital TV set category. Croatia continued its evolution towards digital TV in 2010.
Mobile handset sales accounted for around 19% of Croatian consumer electronics spending in 2010. Croatian market handset sales are expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.0% to US$241mn in 2015, as mobile subscriber penetration reaches 149%. Sales will be dominated by the replacement market, with growing demand for high-end models and 3G handsets.
