With continuous improvement of laser technology, laser equipment has more and more functions, and the laser equipment market has expanded ceaselessly. China's laser equipment market reached RMB3.7 billion in 2010, with a CAGR of 21.7% in 2001-2010.
In general, laser equipment can be divided into high power equipment and small & medium power equipment. As for high power equipment, main types include laser cutting machine tool, laser marking machine, laser welding machine and laser engraving machine. High power laser equipment accounted for 67% market share in 2010. Small & medium power laser equipments are mainly applied in emerging markets, only occupying 33% market share in 2010. In the future, small & medium power laser equipment will be widely used by clothing and furniture enterprises for drilling and cutting, with strong development momentum.

The leading enterprises include Han's Laser, Chutian Laser Group, Golden Laser, and BOYE Laser. Besides, new entrants such as SIASUN and ZHZJ entered into the market in recent years. The main business of SIASUN in the laser area is the R&D of laser robot and will gradually expand to other laser business. ZHZJ mainly uses laser technology in the R&D of titanium alloy structural components rapid prototyping, and will use it in the manufacturing of large structural components of airplanes and ships in the future.
Moreover, possessing advantages in equipment and technology, more and more laser equipment manufacturers are expanding their business to the downstream laser processing industry. Enterprises such as DHKJ, Chutian Laser Group, HGTECH and SIASUN have their own processing centers and been engaged in the laser processing business. It is inevitable that the laser equipment enterprises in the processing sector will grab some market shares from the current laser processing enterprises; and for the latter, including Sunshine, KWE, LanTech, HK, and Eucon Holding Limited, they will expand their business lines to improve their competitiveness.
