Chronic kidney disease (CKD) refers to the slow loss of kidney function over time. As per the severity of the disease, CKD can be classified into five stages, the fifth being the most severe, in which the kidneys lose nearly all their ability to function. This stage is known as End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Since ESRD is a progressive diseases and can never be reversed, there are only two options left for its treatment, either kidney transplantation or dialysis. Dialysis is a process for removing waste from the body, and can be done by two main methods, peritoneal dialysis (PD) or hemodialysis (HD). The dialysis market can also be segmented into dialysis products & dialysis services market. The major dialysis products include dialyzers, hemodialysis machines, along with peritoneal dialysis products. Dialysis services refer to the treatments given by the specialized physicians and care persons to the patients.
