Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA+' and 'A+' long-term and underlying (SPUR) ratings on Independence School District, Mo.'s previously issued debt. The ratings reflect the district's participation in the Missouri Direct Deposit Program. At the same time, Standard & Poor's affirmed its 'AA-' school issuer credit rating (ICR) on the district. The outlook is stable. The 'AA-' school issuer credit rating (ICR) reflects our opinion of the district's: Participation in the diverse Kansas City, Mo. metropolitan area economy; Good wealth and income levels; Good financial reserves, using a cash basis of accounting, despite recent declines; and Moderate debt burden as a percentage of market value.
