Supranationals Maintain High Ratings Oct 02

Abstract
Standard & Poor's has maintained the ratings and outlooks on all supranational institutions rated AAA/Stable/A-1+ one year ago. In August 2002, Standard & Poor's changed the outlook on the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), rated 'AA/A-1+', to negative from stable. This change reflected continuing weakness in its loan and equity portfolios from investments in the Republic of Argentina and other countries, and the uncertain economic outlook in a number of its regional member countries. However, IIC's financial ratios continue to be strong, a consequence of reductions in net loans and receipt of installments of paid-in capital from the capital increase approved in 1999. In May 2002, Standard & Poor's assigned a BBB-/Stable/A-3 rating to the Central American Bank for Economic Integration...
