Abstract Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' ratings on Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Uruguay S.A. (BBVA Uruguay) reflect the bank's ample financial position and the explicit support from its parent, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A. (BBVA). The ratings also incorporate BBVA Uruguay's high liquidity and adequate capitalization levels. However, BBVA Uruguay, like its Uruguayan peers, continues to suffer from the low demand for credit in a financial system that is still consolidating, and its business opportunities are also still limited.
