BBVA Bancomer S.A. Ratings Affirmed; Outlook Stable Jul 06

Abstract NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) July 13, 2006--Standard & Poor's Rating Services said today that it affirmed its 'BBB+/A-2' local-currency and 'BBB/A-3' foreign-currency counterparty credit and CD ratings on BBVA Bancomer S.A. The outlook is stable. 'The affirmation is based on BBVA Bancomer's strong franchise value, the successful strategies implemented by the management to maintain the leading position of the bank in the Mexican banking system, and improved financial performance,' said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Leonardo Bravo. The ratings also reflect Standard & Poor's Group Methodology, in which BBVA Bancomer S.A. is considered a strategically important subsidiary for Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A. (BBVA).
