Abstract
NEW YORK (Standard & Poor's) June 21, 2002--Overall, buoyant demand and pricing for health care services resulted in relatively favorable credit rating activity since March 2002, according to a report on U.S. Health Care Companies released on June 20, 2002 by Standard & Poor's. In the pharmaceutical area, credit activity was mixed, with rating upgrades slightly exceeding downgrades over the past few months. "Given growing public concern with the value of new drugs, success by pharmaceutical companies effectively bringing innovative treatments to market is of increasing importance as a credit factor," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Arthur Wong.
