Abstract
Standard & Poor's Ratings services' base-case outlook for the remainder of 2011 for most the U.S. media and entertainment companies we follow is relatively stable, but varies by subsector. Almost three-quarters (73%) of the rated companies have stable outlooks. Table 1 lays out our assessment categories for business and financials risks and their interaction. Table 2 ranks all the rated companies in this industry from strongest to weakest based on rating and outlook. Companies are grouped into four industry subsectors. Companies with the same rating and outlook are further ranked by our opinion of credit quality based primarily on business risks for investment-grade companies and primarily on financial risks for speculative-grade companies.
