Abstract
The ratings on Korea Deposit Insurance Corp. (KDIC) are based on the role it plays in reforming and strengthening Korea's financial system. The corporation's primary mandate is to protect depositors by extending insurance coverage for deposits using its Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF). By acting as a guarantor to depositors against instances when financial institutions become insolvent and are unable to repay depositors, KDIC helps to safeguard public confidence, and maintain stability in the financial system.
