Global Aircraft Avionics Programs - Revenue Opportunities and Stakeholder Mapping
Frost & Sullivan, Feb 2011, Pages: 68
Increase in Aircraft Orders to Propel Revenue Growth in Global Aircraft Avionics Market
The increase in aircraft orders, paralleled by the emergence of new generation aircraft, will boost the global aircraft avionics market. However, delays in aircraft programmes will dampen growth prospects. Existing aircraft models will account for approximately 59 per cent of the total revenues during the period 2010-2020, with major revenue contributions coming from the B737, B777, A320 and A330 programmes. Future aircraft programmes are expected to secure 41 per cent market share over the same period, with major revenue contributions being generated by the A350 and B787 programmes.
“There has been an increase in aircraft orders in 2010, due to the positive outlook of the airline operators who have been buoyed by the potential surge in air travel post the global recession,” notes the analyst of this research. “Deliveries of future model aircrafts are poised to rise over 2010-2010; for instance, Boeing itself had about 484 orders in 2010.”
Delays in New Aircraft Delivery Remains an Area of Concern
Delivery of the more efficient, new generation aircraft was anticipated to commence from 2010 onwards. The avionics systems on these aircrafts have superior technology, compared to existing aircrafts. “New generation aircraft are considered to be more efficient to operate and maintain than existing counterparts, motivating airline operators to procure more such aircraft,” states the analyst. “Such demand will act as a key driver in the global avionics market.”
However, delays in the delivery of new aircrafts will have a negative effect on the avionics market, as the majority of end users prefer a phased procurement at the time of aircraft delivery.
