Atlantic Basin Refining Outlook

The gasoline market will continue to relinquish its leading role in the Atlantic Basin. Modest short term growth in North American demand will soon give way to the impacts of fuel economy improvements, while European gasoline demand continues to erode.
Latin American gasoline growth will remain strong but will see greater penetration of ethanol, as will other Atlantic Basin markets.
Surplus diesel production capacity will be eventually be consumed by expanding markets in all areas, calling for longer term capacity expansion and/or product imports into the region.
