CA Announces Intent to Acquire ITKO: Simplified Integration Testing for Complex Modern Applications

In June of 2011 CA Technologies announced a definitive agreement to acquire Interactive TKO, Inc. (ITKO). LISA, ITKO's flagship solution, delivers data management and integration/regression testing geared towards highly complex, componentized distributed applications. At the time of the announcement, CA indicated that ITKO would become a division of CA Technologies with Shridhar Mittal, iTKOís current CEO, as General Manager.
Application software development and testing organizations have long struggled with the testing challenges relating to today's componentized, integrated, and massively distributed applications and services. The crux of the problem is that it is difficult to duplicate the interactions between expensive and diverse systems, such as a UNIX-based application running on commodity hardware calling a mainframe database.
ITKO solutions capture and simulate the behavior of integrated production environments, enabling applications to be tested far more thoroughly than has been the case in the past. Development and testing teams can test against systems that look ìrealî to the application without impacting production environments.
EMA has been following ITKO for several years and sees its solutions as offering an excellent value proposition, particularly for companies engaged in large scale, iterative software development of complex applications. This is a high-value acquisition for CA with potential applicability in multiple key areas of application development, testing, and quality.
