Social Business Technologies: Drivers and Inhibitors in the Financial Services Industry

Through both the front door and the back door, social business technologies are penetrating the workplace. Use of social technologies for both internal and external business purposes is becoming commonplace, and companies are beginning to realize and organize around this reality. Some verticals have more obstacles to adopting social business technologies than others, including the Financial Services (FS) industry. In this Strategic Perspective, we address the business goals and drivers of social business technology adoption in the FS industry. We also touch on some of the regulatory challenges that are framing adoption, and how firms are moving forward with these technologies given this environment.
