DAK Americas LLC., a manufacturer of monomers, container resins and fibers, agreed to acquire the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) business, from Wellman, Inc., a producer of PET resin, for a purchase consideration of $185m, including a cash payment and the assumption of certain liabilities.
The acquisition includes the PET resin production facilities in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The facility has a production capacity of approximately 950 million pounds per year (430 kilo tons per year) of PET resin.
