Abstract The Vietnamese banking sector remains weak from a global credit perspective, and in their current form the domestic banks will be increasingly challenged to operate in an increasingly competitive market, which, in turn, is likely to heighten industry risk. In particular, information risk is high. The provision of relevant, reliable, and detailed financial information would be a modest first step toward improving the banking system, focusing particularly on asset quality, liquidity management, funding terms and maturities, and risk concentrations.
