This work focuses on the problem of automatic indexing of electronic versions of documents in a multi-label way (several classes per document). It deals mainly with a collection of High Energy Physics (HEP) related papers taken as samples from the vast digital library of CERN. This collection shows certain properties which deserved the special attention that motivated present research. The official name of the laboratory is European Organization for Nuclear Research. It is the largest particle physics center in the world. At this center physicists come to explore what matter is made of and what forces hold it together.
